Does anyone know of an air purifier with a washable HEPA filter and UV sanitation?
Hi, all. I am looking for an air purifier for home use that satisfies the following:
- uses a HEPA-quality filter that is washable and re-usable
- uses a full-spectrum UV bulb for sanitation that is non-proprietary (easy to replace) or guaranteed for the life of the unit
- priced under 0
For an example, a unit like the following satisfies all of the above except the filter isn’t re-usable:

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer. I’m not sure where else to look!

Does anyone have any cheap solutions improving someone with severe allergies?
I have a soar throat from drainage and I have for months now. I’ve been to the doctor now with a sinus infection every month since the beginning of this year. I’ve been taking claritin, using saline netipot irrigation everyday, been taking prescribed deconex (mucinex but better), and I have an ionic breeze air purifier in my room that I recently purchased and it seems to help.
However, I cannot seem to get rid of drainage every morning and my soar throat.
Before I amp up my allergy medicine or go to a specialist, can anyone recommend me some cheaper solutions to help?
My dad has been to a specialist before and they recommended he drink coffee every morning.
I tried that for awhile but it didn’t help very much I don’t think.
I don’t smoke and I don’t have any known allergies to foods or medicine or grass or anything like that. I also spend very little time outside anyway.
Thanks in advance!

Nothing seems to be getting rid of the fish smell in my house. Any new ideas?
I regrettably cooked some orange roughy on an indoor grill 2 weeks ago and the smell took over my house. It’s awful! Although it has subsided a little, the smell still lingers and I can’t get rid of it. It’s embarrassing! I’m hoping some of you have some new ideas for me that will help. know this question has been asked here already and I’ve attempted many of the suggestions without success. Here’s a list of the things I’ve done in the past 2 weeks:
- Cleaned the entire area with Lysol 4-1 disinfectant multiple times.
- Sprayed Oust & Febreeze throughout the house. This includes both the Febreeze Air and the fabric version on all upholstery and carpets – even the faux wood blinds which also smell!
- Burned scented candles.
- Placed bowls of vinegar in all areas of the house.
- Boiled vinegar, lemons, vanilla, cinnamon (ground and sticks).
- Baked cookies.
- Left windows to house open for several days.
- I’ve been running an Ionic Breeze air purifier for the full 2 weeks.
- Put carpet freshener on all carpeted floors and vacuumed it up.
- Washed all my clothes.
Any new ideas? Short of an exorcism, I don’t know what else to do!
Thanks in advance!

Would Air Cleaner Work Well for Cooking Odors?
My oven doesn’t have a venting system so I was looking for some sort of ventilation system to help clean up the orders in the air while im cooking. I was thinking one of those HEPA air cleaners/purifiers would do the trick. Can anyone let me know if they help out with kitchen/cooking odors and what I should be looking for. I’m not really sure where to start, thanks in advance!!!

Air purifier making buzzing noise?
Hi, I just bought a holmes HEPA air purifier (literally just bought), and within a few hour it started to make a strange electrical buzzing noise. I believe that it is coming from the ionizer, since when the ionizer is off it does not make this noise.
Is this normal, or is this a problem with the machine? Has anyone else had this problem?
Thanks in advance.
Never mind, I’m getting rid of the thing anyway.
