Does anyone own an air purifier with an activated carbon filter and/or HEPA filter, help me please?
I recently bought the Vocarb 5000 from AllerAir. Everytime I try using it, the room gets extremely hot and the air smells weird. My eyes also begin to itch. Could mine be malfunctioning? Is there any danger? Or, from experience, can anyone tell me if it is normal for such air purifiers to heat a room up, or perhaps introduce an odd odor or something into the air.
That doesn’t answer my question.
It’s a brand new machine. Why would there be anything accumulated in the carbon?
Just to be safe, there’s nothing possessing of any toxicity that the purifier could potentially have put out into the air, is there?

The best one is a Honeywell Enviracare.
Home Depot might have them still.
Excellent.
Yours is malfunctioning. It may be overheating because of airway restriction. It should not smell.
Don’t use it. Return it.
Anything carbon activated means its only good for one shot. Carbon to be cleaned has to boiled in hot water to clean. Smells that are in that carbon base will reflect until you do that. It also means the machine has not been cleaned for awhile. Heating because of that. Lint etc. You need to get a Ionic system that can be cleaned by cloth, which is 1000 times better. This will take all pollens out of the air , smoke, etc.
My parents gave my an ionic breeze and when I enter the room is smells odd. If the disinfecting light or whatever that is in there is on it tends to heat up the room a little. It might be normal but ask where you bought it anyway.
