Is my Oreck Air 7 bad? Does it create ozone?
I have been looking online and I see that air purifiers can be bad but I am not sure if mine is. Should I keep the ionizing switch off? Is it actually doing anything for me? I have some allergies and I am not sure if this could be helping or not

Keep your receipt and decide if the machine is worth the price before your money-back guarantee runs out. Typically, our customers don’t sign up for filter change reminders because their nose tells them when it is time to change the filter. This is true for asthma and allergy sufferers world wide. Only you can determine what works for your relief. If this Oreck doesn’t make a difference, get your money back. I will tell you that there are features in an air purifier that almost always provides relief for those with asthma and allergies:
1. A true HEPA filter- not a 1/4" thick HEPA, a 1" thick HEPA. Something with some substance to it.
2. Activated carbon to remove gases and odors.
3. Ultra-violet light to kill mold and viruses.
4. Photocatalyst to neutralize gases and odors, like carbon monoxide.
These are a minimum requirement for relief from your symptoms and improving your breathing. For the air purifier that does it all, check out http://www.allergy-relief-air-purifier.com/portable-air-purifiers.html.
You do want to stay away from ozone, since it is a known lung irritant and can kill live tissue. Ions are good if they are negative, but again they must be balanced with the other aspects of clean air and the use of an ionizer does nearly nothing for removing particles. So don’t waste your money on cheap knock-offs, use what works for you. I hope this helps.
