oreck air purifier and tobbaco smoke?
what is the best way to clean the tar off the metal filter? i tried the oreck spray and it doesn’t work. will using simple green or something similar affect the "ionic" properties the filter claims to possess?

The ionic properties are a result of the electric current passing through the plates. Wash them with dish detergent and hot water. Dry them completely before putting them back in. The stuff you’re wiping off is what you and your children are breathing into your lungs.
Those things are expensive–I’d ask the Oreck dealer if I were you.
