Air purifiers?
I know they cost a lot of money, but are the ionic breeze air purifiers better that the ones with filters?

According to consumer reports the Ionic Breeze is absolutely ineffective.
For a portable air cleaner to be effective the air in the room must move though the cleaning system (simple huh?). The organization that monitors this (AHAM) suggestes that air should move though the cleaner 6 to 8 times AN HOUR for it to be effective. So this requires a pretty healthy sized fan.
Stay with HEPA technology. It is used in Hospitals and is well proven. While it costs more, it works.
Yeah, go with either Ionic Breeze from Sharper Image or the Oreck Air purifier. Both costs around $350 but it’s money well spent. You’ll really notice the air quality in your home.
better to have ionic purifier and filter at the same time.
i got the hunter ionic air purifier with precarbon filter. very nice! got it for $250 at lowes and this is for the big room, not some pathetic looking slim tower that don’t work!

I owned an ionic breeze because of asthma and it is by far the best purifier i’ve ever had.
If you are going to spend a pretty penny than I am sure that you are the type of person who appreciates Quality more than anything. When buying a thing such as an Air Purifier it is necessary that you really do your research instead of just going out there and buying the most expensive thing on the shelf. A few months back I was researching different Air Purifiers for my house so that I can be sure I got a Quality product for my money, rather than buying something that can be hazardous to my health. So I figured I would share my detailled research with you.
I was recommended by my doctor that I use a Air Purifier system due to Asthma and in general it is necessary for health purposes, and also for clean air since the air we breathe in has a direct effect on our body. My doctor recommended that I buy a brand that is no in stores but is 100% better than Sharper Image and Ionic Breeze that is on the market right now. So here is a clear comparision of Sharper Image and Ionic Breeze to the AIR PURIFIER I use:
Air Purifier I Use:
Effectively removes up to 99.99% of airborne particles, reduces odors, has a clean air indicator, has Prefilter, and HEPA
The cleaning speed is 5 speeds, top airflow of 250 CFM(Cubic feet per Minute) and Top CADR (Clean air Delivery Rate) of 250, and cleans a 390sq.ft room, also it comes with a remote control, timer and its filters last up to 1 year(odor) and 3 years (HEPA).
Sharper Image and Ionic Breeze:
Reduce upto 43% airborne particles, redcue some odor, no clean air indicator, UV light and ionizer, Cleaning speed is 4 speeds, top airflow of 52 CFM(Cubic feet per minute) and Top CADR(Clean Air Delivery Rate) of 16, cleans a 25sq.ft room, no remote control, no timer, no fileters, blades need cleaning every two weeks.
When I did more research I also discovered that the airborne particles cleaned by Ionic Breeze and Sharper Image yield hazardous wates in air. So in one hand they clean some airborne particles and at the same time they yield hazardous wastes in your house. Also the Airpurifier I use is very quiet and has a 2 year warranty at least. I was also given a personal demo with scientific information and delivery at home when I was considering buying my Air Purifier.
My one recommendation is that you SPEND YOUR MONEY WISELY ON A QULAITY PRODUCAT AND LOOK AT WHAT IS AVAILABLE OUT THERE and from personal exprience I recommend that you do not buy Ionic Breeze or Sharper Image or the things they have on Walmart, Target or any Retailer Shelves, because they will not be able to give you a personalized demo and or necessary information.
