What's the best air purifier available for $300 or less?
I’d love to hear from people who have air purifiers and are happy with their performance. I’m especially interested in non-HEPA types. Also, has anyone tried Eden Pure brand?

I personally buy Bionaire HEPA air cleaners. They are quiet for use in the bedroom, are reasonably priced, and much more effective than non HEPA types. They have also been independently tested by consumer organizations and proven to work. I have never seen any unbiased, independent test results on the Edenpure.
Any type of air purifier that does not have a fan will not be effective.
Avoid the ionic breeze. I had 2 (actually 4 long story) and they emited ozone and gave my me sorethroats and headaches. Honestly look for one with a hepa filter and a charcoal filter to remove smells. I hate the idea of replaceing filters BUT it’s really the only way to clean the air effectively.
I heard the honeywell brand is good it’s not as good as the more expensive brands, but it’s ok.
If you can spare another $30 dollars I would get this one http://www.amazon.com/Rabbit-Air-BioGS-model-421A/dp/B000CP55VW/ref=pd_bbs_sr_3?ie=UTF8&s=hpc&qid=1195347969&sr=8-3
It’s the rabbit air on Amazon and on sale if the link doesnt work go to amzon and enter airpurifier. You can also read customer REVIEWS on different models. Good Luck!
I have an Oreck 2000. It cost $200. It does not have a HEPA filter. You just wash it every few weeks. It does seem to help my pollen allergies, but it does not seem to help my mold spore allergies. I understand not wanting a HEPA filter. It can cost $25-30 per month for a filter for one of those. I have not tried the Eden Pure brand.
