Your air purifier adds 0.05 ppb to the air it takes in. If it is in a small room, the ozone level will increase. If it is in a large room, it will not be much more than 0.05 ppb.
I do not like to be in a room with ambient ozone intentionally added. I like to put them on a timer, and turn them on and off when I am not home, and no one is going to be in that space for a couple of hours.
Negative ions will ground out through furnishings and glass (and lungs) as "static charge", making them collect the smut in the air. Would have been better to collect them in the ionizer, the way that the "Ionic Breeze" used to…
Safe? Who knows. Too many ways to get things messed up. Use it and watch yourself (and others) for signs of asthma or allergies.
According to the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (which may be suspect as a source) 0.10 ppm is an acceptable level of ozone for any amount of time http://www.epa.gov/iaq/pubs/ozonegen.html You will find sources that will encourage the use of ozone as an air cleaning device (not recommended) and still others that do not tolerate any amount of ozone (which is impossible in our technology-rich environment). If your air cleaner is "generating" 0.05 ppb (that is parts per billion not million), then I would say it is producing it as a by-product, not as an intentional feature. To learn more about air cleaners and their proper application, go to http://www.allergy-relief-air-purifier.com/green-air-filters.html I hope this helps.
