What’s your thoughts on whole house air purifiers that attatch to the furnace?
Considering getting one of these units. Don’t know what to expect for cost and any pros or cons. Want to have air ducts cleaned as well, worth it? What’s average price for that?
Thanks for your help.
Really didn’t know there are so many different ones. Which is better, cheaper, which do you like most?

purifiers can be a great help in removing dust that can cause allergies and also helps people with respiratory problems. The cost can range from a few Hundred to a thousand depending on how good a unit you want.
We just went through a round of bids on a new hvac system. Do you really need an air purifier? They are expensive. Most of them work on the principle that lets the air pass through uv light and that’s supposed to kill the germs, etc. You can get a media filter for much less money and it will also install right next to the furnace. Of course, if you do that you’ll have to go to the furnace every time it needs replacing. Not good if it’s in the attic, etc. As another option, you can get a four or five inch filter that will go in the existing return lines and you can change them from within the house.
Arthur A has a point.
They can be costly.
You need a good HVAC contractor to see if your system can be balanced to accept one.
If allergy & respiratory problems are an issue & a doctor will verify it
some insurance companies will pay at least part of the cost.
Duct cleaning alone can run about $500
