Do air purifiers blow and suck air on the same side?
I have a Holmes one. On one side I see air being blown out. but does it take it in on that same side. or does it take it in from the back.

….hold a thin sheet of paper, or tissue paper, on each side – the paper will cling to wherever the unit is sucking in the air – has to suck air in, in order to clean it….
good luck
p.s. if unit isnt sucking in air, then it’s blocked – needs fixing
It taskes it in from back or opposite side that it comes in at .
It should be taking air in at the back. Any side that has air vents other than the one that’s blowing air is a possible air intake.
I am not familiar with the Holmes air purifier, however, if it is like the one I have, http://www.topbuys.com.au/ionmax-silent-ionic-air-purifier-with-uv-lamp-ion-388.aspx , which uses ionisation to clean the air, it would suck the air from the back, and push clean air out of the front of the unit.
As the polluted air circulates around the room and comes closer to the purifier grill, air is sucked in and unwanted particles are trapped by the filter. It’s important to place the purifier as close as possible to the source of the pollution (if known), and you need to make sure the back of the unit is not obstructed.
