The best on the market is the Sun Pure SP-20C at http://www.allergy-relief-air-purifier.com/portable-air-purifiers.html It is the same unit used in hospitals for its efficiency and effectiveness. Here is a video of one in an invitro fertilization lab http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sDDX_XWAcRY This is not a sponsored video, I found it on YouTube. Also, when you are comparing air purifiers, make sure that there is independent third party testing to prove what they claim. The only machine that comes close is the IQAir GC and that is compared here http://www.allergy-relief-air-purifier.com/best-home-air-purifier.html It is just as important to compare maintenance costs, as you can see, since the filter change on the IQAir GC costs as much as buying a new machine every two years. Take your time and don’t get sucked in by slick marketing.
When the Olympics were held in Beijing. China, the American teams were supplied the
IQAir air purifiers. Testing was done on a variety of purifiers. The IQAir was proven without a doubt, to be the best. These are the same air purifiers used on the TV program, "Extreme Makeover".
I had one in my room in China and it was amazing. Very quiet and efficient. If you are concerned about your health, this is the only way to go. My son, his wife and my two small grandchildren live in Beijing, and have one in each room. The filters are costly, but don’t have to be changed very often. Well worth the price of your health.
I would agree on IQAIR. Look at Iqair Healthpro Air Purifier.
Another Brand I like is RabbitAir.
I agree with previous answers – IQAir air purifiers are very good although quite expensive ones as well.
IQAirs use HEPA technology which has been tested by many decades of use.
Blueair purifiers are good as well. They use a combination of electrostatic and HEPA technology. There are many concerns about electrostatic purifiers emitting ozone which is a lung irritant. The good thing about Blueair purifiers is that not only do they not emit ozone, they also remove it from your indoor air.
But of course, be sure to do your research and read independent reviews.
I think this might be a good suggestion based on its functionality and your budget.

I have been using this product for a couple of years now and so far has fulfilled my requirements.
I am sure there are still many machines out there who can do the job.
Based on your budget, I will recommend you to try this product.
I was also constraint by budget when i was looking around for air purifiers, just dont want to pay so much to buy a big bulky machine as part of my home decor haha..
