Is it effective to use an air purifier and a humidifier in the same room?
I think that the air purifier will cancel out the work done by the humidifier. My boyfriend disagrees. Any thoughts?
It is -10 Degrees farenheit outside; I am most definitely not opening a window!!
Being that cold outside, my skin is excessively dry and a humidifier is a must. At the same time, I am allergist to dust – and being enclosed due to the cold weather, an air purifier is also a must. I am sure my electric company loves me…

They aren’t cancelling each other out, one removes particulate matter, the other provides water. So yes, it is effective.
open window is best
Humidifier adds water vapour to the air. If not cleaned properly and often, will also spew allergens into air in convenient water-droplet carrying form.
Air purifier attracts particles via ionization, captures and binds and neutralizes them.
One won’t cancel out the other per se, but one will not enhance the other either.
Do you need the air cleaned or hydrated? If you need both, then hey, it’s your electric bill.
I agree with you
i also have your problem
so use an air purifier: your lungs are more important than your skin
as for my skin i use avene thermal water and an emollient cream every day and i have no problems with allergies
your bf is right the purifier will make any air that go through the humidifier clean it wont cancel out the humidifier……if any thing youll be breathing better air than most of us. Have no worries when it comes to that but there might be an attachment that you can put on your humidifier to purify it at the same time. you may wanna look in to that. if this hasnt helped im sorry, but if it has im glad.
