What do you know about air purifiers?
Looking for an air purifier. Saw one at Target that never needs a filter change–you just vaccume it when its dirty. I’d like to buy it so that I don’t have to continually buy filters but will this work as well as others? Forgot the name of it but if anyone has this type can you tell me about your experience with it?
Also they all advertise that they have "quiet operation" but which ones are really quiet?
Can anyone recommend a good one?

They’re wonderful for allergy sufferers. My best suggestion is to get one with a metal plate in place of a filter. Instead of pulling out a dusty mess, you rinse it underwater. That way you’re not transferring the dust, pollens and mites around…you’re just washing them away. Or get one of the new ones that kill mold and germs with heat and need no filters.
I got mine at Hammacher Schlemmer a few years ago. They carry the best air care products.
room air purifiers work o.k., but if you want the best results, have one installed on your hvac system. these units are more efficient and will take care of the entire house.
Air purifiers are a wonderful invention. They can be moved and cleaned relatively easily. I can’t reccomend a specific brand, although we use a Hunter brand. Ask the store clerk to plug one in before you buy it to assure quiet operation. You can get a central purifier installed in your system, but this is very expensive. We have used the portable for a couple of years with good results.
