Off the cuff, Hepa’s are the best and are what many hospitals and schools use. And before you go spending $400 on an Ionic breeze..check out some of the health effects and critiques it has gotten from its users. Not so hot!
i think they are overrated. i had one i spent a billion dollars on when they first came out and yes it collects dust and stuff but is it beneficial having something that collects dust on a filter? it can’t get all the dust and dust isn’t even really the problem anyway. if i lived in los angeles or someplace where the inside air was actually better than the outside air (outside air is much better for you for a billion reasons than the processed and recycled processed inside air) i might consider one more necessary. i trashed the one i had though and if nothing else my life is quieter now.
The best article I’ve found that discusses the types of air purifiers, which work best, and whether it’s worth it is at http://www.consumersearch.com/www/house_and_home/air-purifiers/review.html
Don’t know about all of them, but we have the Ionic Breeze Quadra and it’s amazing how much gunk it collects.
