Can, or do, aquarium air pumps have HEPA filters on them?
Growing mushrooms… An aquarium air pump is supplying the air. I want to make sure the air being supplied is free of pollen, spores, dust, and stuff…
You guys! You’re not addressing the question at hand in any regards.
Christ Pleccy, why are you even debating whether or not an air pump sucks air? Was that even in question here? Besides, I know how my air pump works, and in my opinion, the movement of the diaphragm causes air suction.

Aquarium air pumps do not literally suck air in from the outside, instead they contain an electromagnetic motor-operated pump which causes a diaphragm to vibrate rapidly, compressing the air inside the pump and forcing it out, usually through an airline which can be connected to an airstone or filter.
Edit: The compression of air doesn’t cause any form of suction, and why would a Hepa filter be useful on an airpump that doesn’t even suck in air? If you don’t want our advice then try the agriculture section, that’ll suit me down to the ground with your attitude.
