How good can air purifiers be in regards to toxins?
How good can air purifiers be in regards to toxins? For example, if I accidentally burn a few pounds worth of plastics, accidentally release some Clorine gas, and accidentally mix two dangerous chemicals, and cause massive amounts of super toxic gasses and chemicals to be released, is there any air purifier that, regardless of how toxic the toxins are, or what they are, will clean the air to the point of being safe to re-enter this hypothetical air tight room?

You’re going to need an air purifier with massive, massive, massive amounts of carbon running at very high fan speed. While there are several media within air purifiers for various needs, only carbon will absorb the kinds of smoke and gasses you are talking about.
I don’t know who the joker is above this post or what he’s trying to sell, but I’ve never heard of the air purifier he’s recommending. The air purifier with the most amount of carbon lies in the Allerair line that you can can read about here: http://www.best-home-air-purifiers.com/allerair-air-purifier.html
Having said that, I’m not sure anything but professional cleaning would make the kind of room you’re talking about safe.

Nearly all toxins are either particles or gases. Particles can be removed with a HEPA filter that is 99% efficient down to 0.3 microns, while gases can be absorbed by activated carbon and/or neutralized by a photocatalyst.
Take a look at the Sun Pure SP-20C room air purifier at http://www.allergy-relief-air-purifier.com/portable-air-purifiers.html. This unit is able to neutralize odors and gases including carbon monoxide. I would not recommend staying in the room while it is cleaning as this could take more time than your body could stand in this air tight room, but if you needed to clean up, this unit would definitely take care of these toxins. Take a look at the test data at http://www.allergy-relief-air-purifier.com/support-files/sun-pure-sp-20c-data.pdf that shows the effectiveness of this unit. The Sun Pure SP-20C is the same unit used in hospital labs for its efficiency and effectiveness. I hope this helps.
