Can anyone recommend a good air purifier for getting rid of cooking smells?
My downstairs neighbors cook a lot of very pungent things and the smells seep into my apartment. I’m paranoid of smelling like their food. I need a good air purifier that will neutralize the smell.
EDIT: I also don’t really want to spend a fortune.

I think that would be pretty difficult to find an air purifier to neutralize the smell, but try cooking some cinnamon in a kettle about half full of water and the smell may over power the neighbors cooking. I wonder if an air purifier would take the smell out but it might clean the air.
The one air purifier that will definitely take care of odors is the Sun Pure SP-20C at http://www.allergy-relief-air-purifier.com/portable-air-purifiers.html. Not only does it have a hospital grade HEPA filter, a carbon impregnated prefilter and ultra-violet light to kill mold and viruses, but it also has a photocatalyst that neutralizes odors and gases. This photocatalyst is so effective it is able to neutralize carbon monoxide. The computerized controls make it easy to operate and the air quality monitor tells the machine when you neighbors odors are detected and increases the machines effectiveness. I hope this helps.
try a hamiltonbeach true air machine. it’s mini and goes right into the wall. it uses a flat carbon filter that you can order from amazon, etc.
Well i used to use this little cheap purifier: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000N9CPQK?ie=UTF8&tag=littik-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B000N9CPQK
This baby only costs $60 but ill be honest its not amazing. For $60 its pretty good but i would reccomend you spend a bit more and go for the Honeywell 18155 (serch on Amazon.com)
It costs around $175 but it will easily deal with the food smell problem.
Good luck with finding a solution!
