What is the best Air Purifier for your money?
Hello!
I am interested in purchasing an air purifier to help rid of the dust my dog tracks in as well as indoor cigarette smoke.
I don’t want a cheap that will have to be replaced soon or doesn’t do it’s job, yet, I don’t want to pay more than maybe…$300.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. It helps to receive answers from those who have experience with air purifiers.
Thanks so much for your help!!!

You can Google a ton of info on air purifiers. Where to buy, how to buy, consumer reports, etc. It’s all there. I’d give you links, but there are so many. That’s the way I did my research.
I bought two Kenmore air purifiers from Sears a few months ago; one for the living room, one for the bedroom. I run them 24/7. I’ve dusted ONE time since purchasing them…a big change from the weekly dusting I was used to.
Air purifiers come in all sizes and price ranges. The big commercial units are outrageously expensive. But I have no doubt you can find something that works with your wallet. Good luck.
I think you won’t get much for $300. We sell the best air purifier on the market, which is the Sun Pure SP-20C at http://www.smoke-eaters-supply.com/smoke-removal.html and the cost on that unit is $995. You say you don’t want to have to replace it and you want it to do cigarette smoke, so you could look at the Sun Pure SP-20 at http://www.smoke-eaters-supply.com/air-purifiers-for-smoke.html This unit ($595) is going to do what you are asking for but it does not have the photocatalyst like the SP-20C to neutralize the odors and gases of cigarette smoke. The Sun Pure units won’t cost you an arm and a leg when it comes time to change the filters and UV bulb. The testing (which most other air purifier manufacturers don’t have) is there on the site and the owners manual is there. I hope this helps.
Like John, I used to believe that you can’t get anything decent for less than $800-900 but now i beleive that you can get value for money with some of the cheaper units.
You will have to understand that these units are not going to remove in the range of 90% removal of particles that you achieve with the higher priced models. However you can improve your air quality, especially with the bigger particles such as dust and pollen.
I would recommend that you go with a HEPA based filter as for your budget these can still clean efficiently. Stay clear of the Ionizer only purifiers such as those from Oreck, Ionic pro and Sharper image.
My top 5 budget purifiers would be:
1. Honeywell 50250- A solid purifier that has proved itself in many tests and costs just under $200. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00007E7RY?ie=UTF8&tag=littik-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B00007E7RY
2. Alen T100 for $150 is another good performer = http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000R52LGE?ie=UTF8&tag=littik-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B000R52LGE
3. Blueair 203 is at the top of your budget but in tests it performed very well and its worth the extra investment – http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00266DP7G?ie=UTF8&tag=littik-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B00266DP7G
Now i’ll be honest with you, these budget purifiers won’t do much for the odors relating to the cigarette smoke. If you want to deal with odors you will need to look for a purifier that has a good amount of activated carbon filter system – sadly these are in the range of $700+
Feel free to message me any questions about any of the purifiers mentioned and i hope this helps you on your quest.
I would definitely suggest Ionic breeze quadra silent air purifier as it works both silently as well as efficiently, and it also uses very little energy. It costs above $300 but is well worth spending.
Here are some advantages of Ionic breeze quadra silent air purifier if interested
