HEPA Air Filter & Humidifier In The Same Room?
I will be living in a dorm room. I was thinking of getting a HEPA Air filter to “absorb” smells and whatever else it does (mostly absorb i believe?). If that is the case will it absorb the mist that the humidifier gives off?
Basically, I want smells to leave even if they do arrive (from microwaving mostly) and a better nights sleep. Thanks In Advance!
well, i have one in my room at home
and it works great for absorbing smells. I have 2 cats that sleep with me at night so i have to keep a litter box in my room
I dont think it will absorb the mist that the humidifier gives off, just dont put them too close to each other, i know that is hard in a dorm room
i would definately get one, they are lifesavers and the noise they give off helps me fall asleep

A HEPA filter rating is applicable to any highly efficient air filter that can attain the same filter efficiency performance standards as a minimum and is equivalent to the more recent NIOSH N100 rating for respirator filters. These are particulate removal filters. They will also absorb some fumes, mists and some humidity so they are bound to make the air smell less odorous but not by design.
If you really want to zap odors though you would benefit most from a activated charcoal filter and electrostatic precipitator. Keep the HEPA but think about the other as a supplement if the HEPA alone isn’t making the grade.
