do you think that air purifiers work, or help your health.?
Like the ionic breeze, or the oreck xl.
I know they filter the air, I can tell by what I wash off of the electrodes, but do they help the health by reducing bad particles, etc.?
Or can they be harnful? Do you like yours?
I got both of these at a thrift store for like, 10 bucks each, so I didnt pay the outrageous original prices for either of them.
They really take a lot of crap out of the air. Those electrodes are just coated with it.

They work to make money for the companies that make them!
If you have health problems or live where there is a lot of crap in the air, they may be useful. Years ago I lived next to a roofing company and there was a lot of dust and it did not matter what I did or how often I dusted, it was always a problem. The only solution was to move which did help.
Consider why they were being sold at the thrift store. They only work in the area where they are located so you could decide to put it in the bedroom or living room. The kitchen would probably be interesting as there is often grease or other particles in the air due to cooking.
One consideration is that some people by keeping the environment "clean" actually reduces the bodies need to build a strong immune system. I have seen this with kids and they tend to constantly catch every cold or flu when they go out in the public such as to school.
I liked mine which I also got at a thrift store. It just did not impress me with the thought of creating another source of electro smog in the house so I decided to put it to other use.
I disassembled it and used the motor in a project with my kids saving me going out and having to purchase a new one. The screws and useful parts were placed in containers for other purposes. I do things like this to show the kids that they are limited only by their imagination and creativity. They learn that there are alternatives when looking at how to accomplish things and that not everything needs to be thrown away when it breaks. It also teaches discipline to keep parts sorted and to get rid of the rest. They learn it is not always a question of what can be accomplished but rather how they can accomplish it. I too often see people who cannot think for themselves, such as a cashier that needs the cash register to tell them how much change to give and then be totally confused if you give the coin differance when they have just punched in the bill amount. You can trade one health consideration for another, dust for electro smog (along with the cost of the electricity and pollution created to produce the electricity) but you can also be creative and get some mental stimulation if you choose the dust. Being mentally fit is also a great way to keep a young attitude and if you avoid it becomming overstressing it can lengthen both ones life and the quality of it.
Sorry if I got carried away, I have been off answers for a while and this is the first answer now that I am back. Your question is the first message I have gotten from YAHOO for a long time that one of my contacts has asked a question although I checked and there have been several others.
I think they help your health !
Yes there helpful.
They would help. I have the old fashioned kind because I already had them and the filters get dirty and then they cannot be used until you buy more. Sometimes my neighbors ciggerette smoke gets inside and I have to turn it on to get rid of bad air.
Yeah I think they work :O
Yes, I have allergies & I used to use one.
